Fishing Report 5/20/22

With the warmer weather, we have seen much better fishing in the last week.  All of our most popular species have been much more active.  The white bass are still being caught as well!  Crappie-  Crappie are beginning to transition to shallow water and depending on the water body can be anywhere from 2 feet to 10 feet deep.  Look for shallow water to hold warmer water.  Crappie tend to like water temps in the high 50s to low 60s to begin to move onto their beds so they will begin staging at this point.  We have heard of a...

5/13/22 Fishing Report

With the warmer and more stable weather we have had the fishing has been excellent since late Monday afternoon.  White bass- Limits of white bass have been caught almost every day this week so far and should continue as we still have only seen a few females being caught.  Rooster Tails  have been by far the most popular bait, but Road Runners have also done very well.  White has been the preferred color preference.   Crappie-  The crappie fishing has been much improved over the last few weeks and we saw a few limits this week from both Deer Creek and Berlin. ...

5/5 Fishing Report

Good morning!   Despite the weather, this week's fishing improved drastically over last week with limits of white bass and crappie both being reported from the Mahoning river right down the street from us.  The white bass run typically lasts until Mother's day but with the cooler weather we have had, we expect them to remain in the river on and off until just about the 15th of May.  With the much warmer weather coming next week, that should push the rest of the fish up the river to complete the spawn.   Crappie:  Crappie have been caught in bunches with many...

4/29/22 Fishing Report

Reports have been limited this week due to fluctuating weather, but it looks like that should be improving this weekend. Stripers have been caught in Berlin this week by anglers trolling Flicker Shad 5s. White Bass have been caught at Greenbower and in the Southwest corner of Berlin, primarily on Road Runners. We have also heard of people having success near Gaskill using Gulp Minnows (smelt and black shad, 2.5"). Crappie have been caught mainly at West Branch in 15-30 feet of water on jigs. We've seen some nice crappie this week for our Crappie Brawl. Currently the first place fish is...

4/22 Fishing Report

Due to the snow and rain we have received this week, the shop was especially slow for this time of the year, which led to limited reports.  However, the white bass are in the river and should really turn on this weekend as the weather jumps up (almost 35 degrees from Wednesday's temps) over the next few days.   White Bass/"Wipers":  White bass have been caught from Greenbower/Rockhill bridges up to the pull off on 225.  Typically this is the area fish "stage" to make a spawning run and the best stretch to catch the fish as it bottlenecks in this...
