🎣 Weekly Fishing Report – August 28th 🎣
Crappie:
Crappie are still being found around bridges, docks, shaded structure, and deeper cover, but keep an eye on shallower areas as the nights get cooler. Greenbower and Rockhill have already been producing some crappie, and both areas should get a lot better as Berlin's water level continues to drop and fish become more concentrated. Minnows, Bobby Garlands, Crappie Magnets, and other small plastics continue to be good choices.
Walleye:
Walleye fishing at Berlin Lake continues to produce. Trolling Flicker Shads, Flicker Minnows, Harvest Shads, and other small crankbaits remains one of the better ways to cover water and locate fish. Anglers are also catching them casting VIB-E's, Jigging Raps, and jigs tipped with crawlers. As the water level drops and nights cool down, don't be afraid to start checking some shallower flats, especially early and late in the day.
Wipers:
Walborn Reservoir continues to produce wipers, with chicken liver remaining one of the most consistent baits. 3–4 inch paddletail swimbaits are also worth throwing when fish are actively chasing bait. At Berlin, wipers are still occasionally being picked up by anglers trolling Flicker Shads.
Catfish:
The catfish bite has remained steady across the area. Deeper holes, channels, drop-offs, and bridge areas are still good places to start, but some fish may begin moving shallower as the water cools. Nightcrawlers, shrimp, shad, and chicken liver continue to produce.
🍂 Keep an eye on the changing conditions over the next few weeks. Falling water levels at Berlin combined with cooler nights should start moving fish around and bringing more activity into shallower water. Greenbower and Rockhill in particular should continue improving as Berlin drops.
