Fishing Report Week of 5/4/2026

Crappie:
Some fish are starting to show up shallow, but the better bite has still been coming from that 8–10 ft range in structure. Anglers are finding success around brush, laydowns, and deeper cover. Best baits have been Bobby Garlands, Panfish Assassins, Crappie Magnets, and live minnows. There have also been crappie caught in the Mahoning River as well.

White Bass:
The Mahoning River near Alliance has been producing a lot of fish lately, with solid reports coming in this week. Fish are being caught consistently using twister tails and rooster tails, along with some success on minnows.

Wipers:
Reports coming from Walborn Reservoir and the southwest corner of Berlin Lake. Fish are being caught using 3"–4" paddletail swimbaits along with chicken liver.

Walleye:
Fish are starting to move into the shallows, but most are still being found in that 8–12 ft range. Look for them to continue pushing shallow as conditions warm.

Catfish:
Catfish have been caught all over, especially near bridges and drop-offs. Best baits have been chicken liver, shrimp, shad, and artificial catfish baits.
