Fishing Report 7/7

LAKE ERIE

Lorain:

Walleye are being caught in good numbers trolling a Badmo spoon. Most guys are telling us that the best color to use is gumdrop or similar ones to it.

Cleveland:

Lake Erie is hot right now for walleye, lots of fish are being caught using Badmo or Stinger spoons. If you are targeting bigger fish go a little deeper, a lot of fish that are short are hanging shallow.

Geneva/Ashtabula:

Badmo spoons used with Dipsy Divers seem to be doing the trick in that area. You are going to want to troll around 50-60 FOW. The most popular color that is being used is a pink/orange metallic backed Badmo spoon.

INLAND LAKES

Walleye:

Walleye are still being caught in the inland lakes but nowhere as good as Erie. Most people are have the best luck trolling Flicker Shad 5 or Flicker Shad 6s in about 12-15 FOW. Some fish are being caught on crawler harnesses but the best luck is coming from the Flicker Shads.

Crappie-

The fish have moved into deeper water now that the heat is rising. Crappie are usually hanging out around the railroad trestle on Berlin this time of year. A good tactic to catch them would be using a sabiki rig with maggots on it to entice the bite and possibly get more fish per drop. There also have been a few fish caught as by catch when trolling for walleye using Flicker Shads in 10-15 FOW.

Catfish:

There are TONS of catfish being caught in and around bridges in this area. The catfish like to hangout by them because of the channel that usually flows through there which brings them their food. A lot of fish are being caught on Shrimp, shad, or nightcrawlers.
