Walleye (Inland): The walleye bite has been strong north of 224. Anglers trolling baits such as Flicker Shad, Flicker Minnows, and Bandit Lures have seen great success. These baits are proving to be very effective in attracting walleye in the current conditions.
Crappie: With the recent heat, crappie have been a bit more challenging to catch. However, the few reports we've received indicate that anglers are finding them around bridges and deep structures. To increase your chances, use soft plastics like Bobby Garlands and Panfish Assassins with 1/16 oz jig heads.
Wipers: Wipers have been active in Walborn and Deer Creek. Successful baits include Chicken Liver, spinnerbaits, swimbaits, and even bladed baits. These techniques have been yielding good catches for those targeting wipers.
Catfish: Catfish are being caught everywhere, though they are beginning to move into deeper water as the temperature rises. For best results, target these fish using Large Nightcrawlers, Shrimp, Chicken Liver, or artificial catfish bait.
Lake Erie Walleye: Most reports from Lake Erie have come from Cleveland and Geneva, with anglers catching the most fish in 50-60 feet of water (FOW). Some bigger walleye have been picked up in 70+ FOW out of Geneva. Steelhead have been mixed in as well. Most successful setups include running Dipsy Divers with Stinger and Badmo Spoons. Some anglers are running Tru Trips off of planer boards, while others have been having success with Bandit Walleye Deeps on lead core.
