With the summer heat in full swing, we haven't had a lot of reports coming in, but here's the latest on the local fishing scene:
Walleye: The north end of Berlin is producing some nice catches! Most of the bigger walleye are being caught while trolling with Smithwick Perfect 10's and Bandits. Flicker Shads are also working well. Additionally, some anglers are having success drifting crawler harnesses, just like last week.
Crappie: These fish are heading a bit deeper, typically found in 8-12 feet of water. They are seeking out shady areas to cool down. Look for them around bridges and under shady trees where they can escape the sun. Target these fish using soft plastics like Panfish Assassins, Bobby Garlands, and live minnows.
Catfish: Catfish have been biting a lot on large nightcrawlers, shrimp, and chicken liver. While these fish are being caught all over, deeper water has been more productive this week. Notable spots include around the 14 Bridge and the 224 Bridge at Berlin.
Wipers: Wipers have been caught, but we haven't received many reports this week. Still, you can target these fish at Berlin, Walborn, or Deer Creek, where they are most abundant. Target these fish by using a variety of baits like, chicken liver, shrimp, blade baits, and even crankbaits.
