🎣 Fishing Report – May 9, 2025 🎣
White Bass have pushed into the mahoning river and are being caught in good numbers. Anglers are reporting success using Rooster Tails, twister tails, and live minnows. Look for current seams and deeper pockets—especially in the mornings.
Crappie are staging and spawning in the shallows around structure like brush piles and stumps. Hot baits include Bobby Garland jigs, Panfish Assassins, and live minnows. The bite has been consistent, especially during low-light periods.
Walleye are still being caught shallow in the willows, with a few good fish coming on Flicker Shads and live bait jigs tipped with nightcrawlers or medium minnows. Focus on early morning and evening for best results.
Wipers (Hybrid Striped Bass) have been biting well, especially near the southwest corner of Berlin Lake and all around Walborn Reservoir. They’re hitting paddletail swimbaits, small crappie jigs, and live minnows. Surprisingly, chicken liver has also been producing bites from these aggressive feeders.
Catfish are active and being caught just about everywhere. Top baits right now include chicken liver, shrimp, Fishbites, and Catfish Pro Catfish Bait. Try deeper holes, creek mouths, and flats during warm afternoons and evenings.
