Weekly Fishing Report – May 23, 2025

Crappie:
Crappie are moving into shallower water as temperatures warm up. They’re being caught close to the shoreline, especially around bushes, laydowns, and docks. These fish are perfect for beginners – they bite often and aren’t too picky! Try small lures like Bobby Garlands or Panfish Assassins, or just use a small minnow under a bobber and cast near the bank. It’s simple, fun, and a great way to get kids involved too!

White Bass:
Still a fairly steady bite around the southwest corner of Berlin, near Greenbower and Rockhill. These fish are aggressive and love flashy lures like Rooster Tails and Twister Tails. Just cast and reel – they’ll do the rest. They’re schooling up, so once you find one, there’s usually more around.

Walleye:
A few more walleye are showing up near the trees in the southern part of Berlin, especially around the German Church ramp. These are a great catch if you’re looking for something a little bigger. Try live bait jigs if you’re fishing slower, or cast out Flicker Shads and Shad Raps if you’re covering water. Look for structure – trees, stumps, or drop-offs.
