🎣 Weekly Fishing Report – May 16, 2025 🎣
Perfect weather is on the way – it’s a great weekend to go fishing!
If you’ve been thinking about getting out on the water, this is your sign! The weather looks great this weekend, and the fish are starting to move into shallower water, which makes them easier to catch – especially if you’re newer to fishing. Here's what’s biting:
Crappie:
Crappie have been hanging out in shallow bushes lately, and as the water warms up a bit more, they’ll move even closer to the shoreline. That means you don’t need a boat – fishing from shore can work great right now! They’re biting on small soft plastic lures like Panfish Assassins and Bobby Garlands, and also on small live minnows. Just cast near brush or along the bank and reel in slowly.
White Bass:
These fish have slowed down a little in the river, but you can still catch them in the southwest corner of Berlin Lake, around Greenbower and Rockhill. They love small lures like Rooster Tails and Twister Tails – just toss them out and reel them in at a steady pace. They’re fun to catch and fight hard for their size!
Walleye:
We’re starting to hear about some walleye being caught near the German Church ramp at the southern end of Berlin Lake. These are a little trickier to catch, but worth it! Most folks are using live bait on jigs, but crankbaits like Flicker Shads and Shad Raps also work well, especially around fallen trees or submerged brush.
