Fishing Report 5/12/23

Fishing Report 5/12/23

Fishing has been great this week with successful reports coming from multiple bodies of water.  Our cover photo this week is Landon Mathes with a walleye he caught on Berlin Trolling Crawler Harnesses in 10 FOW.  Pretty work Landon!

White Bass-  The white bass run is in full swing.  Anglers are reporting catching fish from as far North as Price Street/Greenbower area to as far South as the Mahoning River Dam.  With the rain coming Friday night, Saturday and Sunday should be an excellent time to pinpoint some bigger fish as the females should be headed into the river.  Our most popular baits have been Rooster Tails in White or Black, 2" Twister Tails in Purple and Junebug, and 2.5" Gulp Soft Plastic Minnows.

Walleye-  Walleye are being reported caught in the Willow Trees and fairly shallow water (10' or less).  They have been caught trolling and also caught jigging with Live Bait Jigs (short shank) tipped with nightcrawlers, as well as on 1/16 oz Tinsel jigs.  Look for the walleye in and around the green trees near the 225 bridge and N of the 224 Causeway.

Crappie-  Early in the weekend we heard of crappie in shallow water and then the bite seemed to turn off in the middle of the week with the change in weather.  Look for the crappie to be shallow this weekend and target them with 1/32 and 1/16 oz jigs tipped with maggots or Panfish Assassins.
