WALLEYE
Walleye action has been solid this week! Anglers fishing the middle of the night near the 224 Bridge at Berlin Lake are reporting steady catches. The Lake Milton Spillway is also producing well, especially for bigger fish. Productive baits include shallow-running crankbaits like Husky Jerks and Flicker Shads, as well as Jigging Raps and Rapala VibEs. Nighttime and low-light hours have been key.
CRAPPIE
Crappie fishing has picked up nicely. At Berlin Lake, fish are being found near standing timber and around the Reeder Road area at Walborn Reservoir. The Lake Milton Spillway is also turning up good numbers. Best baits have been 1.5”–2” soft plastics and live minnows under floats.
NORTHERN PIKE
Pike are active and pushing shallow! Look for them in weedy, shallow bays around Berlin Lake and up into the Mahoning River. Anglers are having success using twister tails and live minnows. Don’t be afraid to throw something flashy to trigger a reaction strike.
YELLOW PERCH
Yellow perch are showing up at the Lake Milton Spillway, with anglers catching fish on red worms and small minnows on the bottom. A light line and subtle presentation are key.
WHITE BASS
The white bass run is getting started! Fish are currently staging around the Greenbower area. As soon as water levels rise, expect a strong push into the Mahoning River. 2” twister tails, Panfish Assassins, and live minnows are working well. Keep an eye on flows—they’ll move quick once conditions are right.
