Fishing Report 3/31/23

Despite the nasty weather, the walleye fishing has been great.  Don't forget that our crappie tournament is this weekend!  Registration is from 3PM-7PM and fishing begins as soon as you are registered!

Walleye-

We had a report this week of a limit of walleye coming from the Mahoning River, just down the street from us, as well as lots of fish being caught at the 224 bridge/causeway on Berlin.  Berkley Gulp soft plastic minnows on jigs have been the most popular baits for the river, while most anglers are using Bomber Long As, Vibes, and Husky Jerks at the Causeway.

Crappie-

Most of the crappie we are hearing about from shore have been smaller in Deer Creek and Walborn reservoirs but we would recommend trying the Deer Creek Spillway as that is where a lot of big crappie come from at this time of the year, especially during a good rain that we will see this weekend.  Fish as close as possible to the spillway and use Gulp Minnows, Panfish Assassins or Bobby Garlands on 1/16 oz jigheads with a faster twitch retrieve.
