5/7/21 Berlin Lake Area Fishing Report

Berlin Lake Area Fishing Report:

The water level has increased with all the recent rain, but is still 1.46 feet below normal water depth for this time of year. Over a foot of water was gained in the past week, and we should see normal water depths soon. The surface water temp is 58.65°, and the buoy temp at 1 foot below the surface was measured at 58.35°. The water is temperature is up approximately 2° from last week.

Much like last week, crappie fishing continues to be excellent. For the boating fishermen, the shallow bays in Berlin have produced bigger fish. Walborn and Deer Creek continue to have excellent fishing as well, from the shore. We have received reports of 10-20 keeper fish per trip. Small minnows, which are available here at Tall Tales, and panfish assassins with maggots have been best.

It’s Mother’s Day weekend and if you know, you know….THE WHITE BASS ARE RUNNING!!!

All DeBee family jokes aside, White Bass fishing is at its peak this weekend, and should last almost a full week and then it will gradually slow down. Catches of 30-50 fish are being reported. A great spot for anglers has been downstream of the 225 bridge, right by Tall Tales. A recent report stated constant action from this area, which found White Bass measuring 10-11” in length. The best bait has been Rooster Tails, Twister Tails, Gulp Minnows and Beetle Spins.

Walleye have been caught along the highbanks and in some shallow areas. Anglers have also reported catching walleye while wading in popular crappie areas.

Give your wife a break for Mother’s Day and take the kids fishing! Happy Mother’s Day weekend!
