Berlin Lake Area Fishing Report:
We should see another great weekend of fishing! This past weekend saw the Ohio Walleye Federation Tournament with quite a few limits of big fish: 6.5# Saugeye, and 7+# Walleye. 25-30 Walleye were caught in the tourney with the overwhelmingly popular bait being the Northland Fireball jig tipped with nightcrawlers. Fish in shallow water, along high banks or the points for best results.
Crappie fishing has done well for anglers fishing from boats. Bigger sized fish have been coming from Berlin near structure and in shallow waters. Panfish Assassins and paddle-tailed Crappie Dappers have been popular baits, and also using small minnows.
For Wipers, fishing has been good near the Walborn dam, as well as other area lakes by trolling. Anglers fishing near the Walborn dam are catching fish on chicken livers, nightcrawlers, and assorted shallow diving crankbaits.
The White Bass fishing has continued to be excellent, with many anglers taking limits. The most popular baits have been Rooster Tails, Roadrunners, and jigs and Twister Tails. Females should be coming in this week, and the run should finalize over the next 7-10 days.
The water level is at 0.37 feet above normal, with a water temp of 67.64°, and a buoy temp 1 foot below the surface of 77.80°.
