3/25/22 Fishing Report

The walleye run continues to be strong, despite the cooler weather we had this week.  Even with less people fishing, we are still getting daily reports of walleye being caught in the usual areas.  Here are the best ways to target them based on what we are hearing:

Berlin Lake (224 Bridge aka "The Causeway"):  Fishing has been far better at night, with peak catch times ranging from 12AM-5AM, but a handful of fish have been caught during the day from shore and from anglers in boats.  Target the fish here with VibE's, Size 10 Husky Jerks, Rapala Rippin Raps, and Size 9/11 Berkley Hit Sticks.

Lake Milton Spillway:  Fishing has been the best here over the past week, with many anglers wading or casting from shore finding success with both walleye and some really nice sized perch as well.  VibE's and Jigging Raps have been the overwhelming choice of baits to use for this area, with Jigging Raps being far more popular this week.  If you are targeting perch specifically, try Jigging Raps or live red worms.

Mahoning River (Alliance):  Fish have been caught here over the last few days by anglers that are wading.  Primarily they are using VibE's or Steelshads and targeting pools of water that are deeper or have slower moving water.

West Branch Dam:  Musky have been caught here over the past week but only a few fish are being reported with a handful of walleye mixed in.  Shallow diving/suspending stickbaits like Hit Sticks, Husky Jerks and 6" Grandma lures have been the baits of choice.
