Berlin Lake Area Fishing Report 7/22/20
Walleye have slowed a bit this week, but are still being caught while trolling 12-17’ in depths ranging from 20-30 FOW. Size 6 flicker shads and Size 7/9 Flicker Minnows have been the most popular baits with a few shorts being taken on Hawg Harnesses while drifting.
Crappie are being caught near the bridges (railroad trestle, 224, 14) with fishing in the evening being significantly better than in the daytime. Fish are being caught with Jigging Raps, and tungsten pin men tipped with waxworms and maggots. Fishing under lights into the evening has produced the best results.
The catfishing has still been excellent. Nightcrawlers and chunk baits have produced the most fish with Chicken Liver also doing well. Near the bridges or in deeper water has held more fish, with most of them suspended a few feet up from the thermocline. Anglers trolling have also caught a few catfish, with crawler harnesses taking more than hard bodied baits.
