The water temperature at Berlin as of this morning is 78 degrees with lake levels being 2 feet below normal. Still quite high in comparison to the past few years at this time of the year.
Here is the report for the Berlin Lake area broken down by species:
Both Largemouth and Smallmouth bass have been caught in the area with fish seeming to target bigger baits this week. Creatures and 7-10″ Power Worms have been producing fish near docks and structure. Ned Rigs have also been producing fish when fish have been more stubborn. If you’re fishing Walborn, try creatures on jigs fished slowly near points or docks.
-June bug and Green Pumpkin and Black/Blue Fleck have been the most popular colors in all baits this week.
Look for crappie near the bridges again this week, with fishing being far better early morning or at night when hanging lanterns or submersible lights. Double jig rigs and Panfish Assassins have been pulling the most fish, with some fish being caught on Jokers and maggots as well.
Catfish have been caught all over with anglers primarily using shrimp (Garlic flavor seems to have produced the most fish) as well as Nightcrawlers fished just off the bottom with small floats. Fish are being caught all day regardless of time or conditions. Berlin has seen quite a few of these being caught by many anglers in boats targeting other species.
Walleye have been caught in Berlin over the last few days by Anglers using blade baits like Cicadas and VibE’s. Look for fish suspending just over the thermocline or near humps in the north end of the lake. We have heard of as many as 20-30 fish caught in a few hours if you can find where they’re located. Most fish are being caught early morning or late in the evening.
If you want to troll, try using Flicker Minnow 9s, Perfect 10s, or Bandit Walleye Deeps for fish in 14-16′ of water.
