Crappie- Crappie fishing has been excellent as the spawn continues. We are hearing about 50/50 of fish being spawned out and still have eggs in them, so expect them still be on their beds through this weekend and into early next week, depending on water temps. Look for fish in 3-5 FOW and use small minnows, or small jigs tipped with maggots or wax worms.
Walleye- Walleye continue to be found near points, highbanks, and in the willows in Berlin. Earlier in the week the water was pretty muddy and made for a more difficult bite, but as the week progressed, we saw more walleye being caught. The hot baits have been Northland Whistler and Fireball jigs tipped with leeches or nightcrawlers, Shad Raps, and casting and retrieving harnesses.
Wipers- We are hearing of more and more wipers being caught in open water on Berlin as well as a few from shore. This was the time last year that we saw lots of big wipers being caught so now is a great time to target them.
Catfish- Catfish have been caught all over with sizes ranging greatly. Most of the fish are being caught as bycatch as anglers are targeting crappie with minnows. Look for them in fairly shallow water as they are in and around the crappie beds.
Please note that there will not be a fishing report next week due to limited staffing.
