This week’s report will be limited due to the lack of access to the lakes over the last week.
As of this morning, temperatures at the surface are 75 degrees with the lake at just about 1′ above normal. Water has been let out all week and boats are again able to get in at the ramps.
Due to the fact that most boaters were unable to get in until later in the week, our reliable reports have been very limited.
Deer Creek Spillway continues to hold a bunch of fish, especially the big hybrid striped bass or “wipers.” We saw big fish caught all week again, primarily on chicken liver, large jigs and grubs, or topwater baits at night. You can also find catfish, carp and crappie mixed in there as well.
With the water receding, we expect to hear more crappie reports, but as of now, Deer Creek has been the best spot for consistent crappie. Larger live minnows have brought the biggest fish.
